Interzone Pictures grew out of my own restless curiosity and the desire to build a place where ideas and images could collide in unpredictable ways. After years immersed in academic research — culminating in a PhD in sociology from Harvard — I found myself drawn to the power of popular storytelling as a way to make big, complex ideas feel intimate and alive. I’ve always been captivated by the strange, overlooked corners of human experience, and my documentary work has been a way of chasing those moments of wonder. A big part of that journey has been a deep, hands-on understanding of emerging technologies; staying close to the newest tools has allowed me to use VFX and animation with precision and intention, creating a sense of scale and visual impact regardless of budget. Now I feel an urgency to push further, to experiment with new forms and to explore stories that twist our perspective just enough to reveal something unexpectedly true. J.G. Ballard’s notion that Earth itself is an alien planet has long shaped how I see storytelling: its magic lies in making the familiar startling again, inviting us to question what we thought we knew. With Interzone, I hope to build worlds on screen that expand our sense of what our own world is—and what it could become.
